Discover the Culinary Heritage
of Antakya
Our restaurant invites you to savor the authentic flavors of
Turkish cuisine inspired by the rich heritage of Antakya, also known as Hatay.
Founded by one of Alexander the Great's generals, Antakya has been a crossroads
for pilgrims, travelers, and tourists for centuries. This historic city has seen
the harmonious coexistence of Arabs, Turkmen, Circassians, Christians, Jews,
Armenians, and more, creating a unique cultural tapestry.
Historical and
Cultural Richness
Antakya, located on the Silk and Spice Routes, served as
a gateway to Mesopotamia and the Middle East, becoming a cultural and culinary
hub. The city's Archaeological Museum houses 120 sculptures, 3500 square meters
of mosaics, and 942 ancient coins, showcasing its rich history. A famous mosaic
there bears the words: "Be joyful, live your life"
Culinary
Artistry
Antakya's cuisine is a treasure trove of tradition, featuring
fresh vegetables, olive oil, legumes, and Mediterranean produce. With over 650
unique recipes, traditional herbs, and spices, the dishes are prepared using
methods like sun-drying, preserving, and marinating, adding distinct flavors. In
2017, UNESCO recognized Antakya as the 26th gastronomic city in the
world.
